You’re lucky you got a shot of all the bikes together like that. It is now illegal in Queensland for bikes to ride in groups larger than three. Part of the new anti-bikie laws 😦
Wow, that’s interesting, Suz. I heard while I was there that a law was coming, but I didn’t know the details. I guess it’s in effect now. It’s such a shame that a bad bike gang ruined it for so many good ones.
We met the nicest woman in Townsville. She worked at the bottle shop and whenever we were there to pick up some beer or wine, she would tell us tales of her bike trip that she took through the U.S. I think she traveled with a group of Australian bike enthusiasts. To tell you the truth she went to some parts of the U.S. that I would be scared to venture, but she thought it was all wonderful and is planning another trip back.
It’s very unfortunate that the law will stop people who are just having fun, like her. I dislike laws that are so broadly applied to the lowest common denominator, unfairly catching innocent folks in their net.
Hopefully, things will clear up and go back to normal.
Does law cover all of Australia or just Queensland? I heard the problem was worse in Western Australia. Although I know there was a big problem in Brisbane recently.
Just Queensland at this time. There were issues in Brisbane recently a lot of trouble on the Gold Coast. The problem is that it just means that the trouble will go underground, it won’t stop it. And yes, it stops a lot of the social groups from doing big rides. Although I have seen a few come through town but they are broken down into smaller groups lol. I guess there is always a way around things.
