I was staring out the window daydreaming today, which I do a lot of as I work, when I decided I had to take a selfie. Do you know — day dreaming is very good! We think that work has to be grind, grind, grind, or else it isn’t work. But when we allow our minds some freedom we may come up with short cuts or brand new ideas that will make our work, work, work, actually be breakthrough instead of just more shavings off the same block.
The two unframed canvases in the background were done by my mom in an art class when she was just fooling around. I love them — there’s nothing like original oil paintings, even if they are just studies. The framed one is a composition by the artist, Leanne Cole. The link that I provided to Leanne’s blog will take you to the post that was selected for the honor of WordPress Freshly Pressed. Being Freshly Pressed is major and it is very well deserved by Leanne, whose work I obviously admire.
Excellent Selfie posting, Nia! Beautiful colors, paintings, text, reference to Leanne’s works (I admire her photos, too), and blogger and writer! Have a great week! 🙂

*Thinks* What’s Laurie up to down under? Has he had a good weekend? Is he taking great pictures?
Oh, sorry Nia, you weren’t thinking that? You look so far away, great pic.
Cheers
Laurie.

So impressed with the sideways selfie! And love your office. The wall color is so deeply saturated. And your mom’ soils are lovely. Need to check out the artist you love.

I’m glad you are also a fan of Leanne’s work. This one reminds me of Rembrandt. You can’t see it so much from the selfie angle, but the background is really deep.
Thanks for saying that about my mom’s flowers. She would always brush things off as just this or just that unless it was one of her things that turned out like Cezanne or Rembrandt, but I loved these flowers. When I found them in her studio when I was clearing it out, I was delighted. It wasn’t until I repainted my writing room orange and decluttered it that I found the place to hang them up. Hubs has promised to make me frames for them, but he has such a long Honey-do list that I hesitate to demand it! Anyway, a few people have said they really like them too, so those comments have been very enlightening to me.
Thanks again.

I think anyone who has the talent to create lovely works of art deserves to have their paintings (or pictures) hanging on the wall. Of course I can’t see your mother’s pictures in minute detail but from what I see they look gorgeous.
