Since beginning blogging on January 4, 2013, I have expanded beyond anything I’d ever dreamed possible.
A slow reader, I figured my learning rate would always match. Joining the Blogisphere and just listening to those who have listened to niasimoneauthor.com, I have downloaded worldviews at a rate of gigabytes per second.
See this sweet spot (Beaver Bowl Ridge) and desire it but will have to climb.
Prepare to hike the ridge, encounter this sign:
Let’s see, skiing alone, high winds, will be hiking in ski boots on an icy ridge, sign warning of possible death or worse… Turn back.
The front of the ridge, inbounds, should be good enough.
Missed upper sweet spot but this looks plenty good. (Lower Beaver Bowl.)
Back at the lower levels, discover untouched corduroy (skier term for groom lines) on closed Kangaroo lift.
Lay down tracks.
Don’t forget to look at Lake Tahoe from top of Wolverine Bowl.
D-chutes.
Skier’s left of Wolverine Bowl, off-piste, very tasty.
Practice mindfulness one more time, while waiting for husband to swap out demo skis. See Scott Peak not just as an imposing mountain but as a complex pattern of rugged, volcanic rock.
Drive to Reno to pump iron with awesome stepdaughter.
Observe beautiful pregnant woman doing Bulgarian split squats with 50 pounds of weights.
Long after the original statues and the population decimation caused by slavery and disease, a Rapanui artist came to the quarry and carved this sculpture.
He used different stone than the original carvers, lava. Notice the skyward gaze…
and the magnificent, ancient Ahu Tongariki on the shore in the background, all statues gazing inward.
Gorgeous, in every way. The photos are art, the posed dancers are art, the philosophy is beauty, the effect is immediate. Feel looser and stronger after one workout. Be inspired while you do it.
…If you take care of your body, your body will take care of you. It sounds simple, but when you look better and feel better your outlook on life improves. That’s why I believe this workout is a success — because it’s not only based on dance, it’s grounded in good health.
…I think ballet can bring something to everyone. Dance, by its very nature, by the fact that glorious bodies are moving through space, needs no translation. Ballet is a beautiful art form. And dancers are not just beautiful people, they are some of the most dedicated people I know. Ballet is pure and demands you serve something larger than yourself, whether it be beauty or art, or a combination of both. It requires discipline, taking care of yourself, taking care of your own body first. Then it allows you to give of that beauty, the beauty that you acquire by sculpting your own body all your life.
We try to reflect many of these aspects of ballet in our workout. See if by using these techniques to sculpt your outer self, you don’t find a new poise and confidence radiating from your inner self is well.

Attend concerts for 15 bucks at The Manhattan School of Music on Sundays:
Amazing musicianship.
The Institute of Musical Art, which became the Juilliard School, once occupied this building on the upper (upper) West side. When Juilliard moved to Lincoln Center in Midtown, The Neighborhood Music School, which was located on the East side, moved into the building and became The Manhattan School of Music.
It’s a wonderful building. Three buildings altogether, actually. Above a stairwell in the oldest part of the building, the evening light filtered through a circle of stained glass with the name and logo of the Institute of Musical Art.
The concert was held in the John C. Borden Auditorium.
Also on the upper West side, Smoke Jazz and Dinner Club, has all the atmosphere of a smoky jazz club without the cigarettes (hooray).
Your dinner table awaits you
The show was fantastic, absolutely. Tribute to Pepper Adams (http://www.motema.com/artist/pepper-adams-joy-road). The experience doesn’t come cheap: over a hundred, but worth it. The acoustics very good, proximity amazing. Ballads and sung poetry directed to you.

Ms. Cole collaborated with poet (and performance poet), Barry Wallenstein (http://www.nyqbooks.org/author/barrywallenstein), to translate e.e. cumming’s [i carry your heart with me(i carry it in] into jazz lyrics. Unbelievably beautiful. Do check out this wonderful poem:
